A house divided against itself cannot stand. A nation divided against itself cannot stand. A family divided against itself cannot stand, and also a church divided against itself cannot stand. The church is the property of Christ.
Let's answer the questions posed by Apostle Paul in 1 Cor 1 : 13: "Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?" I believe the answers are no, no, no. Christ was never divided. In Trinity, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are forever united.
Jesus laid down his life for the forgiveness of our ugly sins. Jesus commanded that we must be baptized in his name. God gave him the name that is greater than any other name in heaven, on earth and beneath the earth. At the name of Jesus, every knee MUST bow, and every tongue MUST confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
We must, therefore, be very careful not to cause any form of division in the body of Christ, regardless of our spiritual & physical status and privileges. We did not call ourselves, but Christ called us to uphold the gospel and not to divide his church. As good examples of Christ-followers, we MUST also pray and seek for unity in our homes, families and nations.
King David, a man after God's heart, made every effort to unite his family as well as Israel. He worked to restore peace to Israel with the help of God. David defeated all the enemies of Israel, and the LORD gave him victory wherever he went.
In 1974 the Government of Alberta, acting through Minister of Culture Dr. Horst A. Schmid, declared the first Monday in August (which was yesterday) an annual holiday to recognize and celebrate the varied cultural heritage of Albertans, known as "Heritage Day". Primarily, this is a drive towards Albertan Unity.
The God that helped to restore relative peace to David's family and the nation of Israel is the same God yesterday, today and forever. The same God will help us restore peace and unity to our family, church and nation.
Call on him today, and he will hear you and answer you according to his promises concerning us.
