Scripture Readings

The Bible is the living, breathing word of God. Just as God is, the Bible is timeless. The message written for the people then is also written for us today. When I’m studying a passage, I can read through it quickly and feel it’s confusing and irrelevant. But when I sit in reflection and mediate on why my God would want me to hear this word today, he shines his light. The passages we read today are no different!

Our nature is to want our own way. We celebrate winners in competitions and that striving shows up in our day to day life. But when has fighting to get your way ever produced joy or good fruit? Victory gained by undermining or cutting someone leaves a bitter taste and taints the joy of the accomplishment. Do it often enough, and the sourness becomes how you approach all things.

We’re all on a different journey but with the same destination. The Lord is returning! Take heart!  “The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.”

Don’t fight with your team, your family and especially with your family in the body of Christ.  It’s a good reminder today to “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
