Do Not Be Deceived

Paul warns Christians in Col. 6 that we cannot grow in our faith when we accept “deceptive human traditions and the basic principles of this world rather than rely on Christ.”

Are we so influenced by today's culture that we do not notice how many standards of our day effectively deny the teaching of Christ? I asked our care group members to name some of the things accepted and approved in our world that Paul might warn us about today. Below is a partial list of their suggestions. What would you add?

We should not be discouraged by the sins in the world; after all, we have been forgiven and given the fullness of Christ, who is the head of every power and authority. But we do need to respond to his love by being salt and light in our world. Gently, and with love, we must warn others that there are consequences to "everyone living as they see fit.”

I pray that we all may be strengthened in our faith as we seek to follow our Lord and Savior. May God show us his will as we faithfully live in a broken world.
